Agustin Cabrera-Santamaria, M.D. received his
undergraduate degree from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and
his Medical Degree from Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He
completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine and his
Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease from the VA Medical Center in San Juan,
Puerto Rico. During his Residency and Fellowship, he was Clinical Medicine
Instructor at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in Rio
Piedras, Puerto Rico and an ER Screener at the VA Medical Center Emergency
Room in San Juan.
Dr. Cabrera practices Invasive and Clinical
Cardiology with Amarillo Heart Group. He is an Affiliate with the American
College of Cardiology, an Affiliate with the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Cabrera has served as Board member of the Amarillo Chapter of the
American Medical Association, and is a member of the Texas Medical
Association and Potter-Randall County Medical Society.
Dr. Cabrera’s research interests have been in
pharmacologic stress testing and lipid management. He has presented his work
in medical research to the Puerto Rico chapter of the American College of
Cardiology. His current goal is to provide comprehensive risk reduction
measures for patients with coronary and other vascular diseases,
particularly in the aspects of smoking cessation, lipid management, and post
myocardial infarction care.
Special Skills include: Right Heart Catheterization,
Left Transradial Heart Catheterization, Stress and Transesophageal
Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Exercise Stress Testing, Temporary
Pacemaker Implantation, Acute Post-Bypass Care, and he is
Bilingual-Spanish/English.
