AGUSTIN CABRERA-SANTAMARIA, M.D., FACC

Agustin Cabrera-Santamaria, M.D. received his undergraduate degree from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and his Medical Degree from Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine and his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease from the VA Medical Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. During his Residency and Fellowship, he was Clinical Medicine Instructor at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and an ER Screener at the VA Medical Center Emergency Room in San Juan.

Dr. Cabrera practices lnvasive and Clinical Cardiology with Amarillo Heart Group at the regional office in Pampa where he has full access to procedural and surgical services provided by the Amarillo staff. He is an Affiliate with the American College of Cardiology, an Affiliate with the American College of Physicians, a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Cabrera is a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the Top of Texas Medical Society. Membership in the Emergency Room Committee and Medicine Committee of Columbia Medical Center of Pampa allow Dr. Cabrera the opportunity to share his interest and expertise with the hospital staff and medical community.

Dr. Cabrera's research interests have been in pharmacologic stress testing. He has presented his work in medical research to the Puerto Rico chapter of the American College of Cardiology. His current goal in relocating to the Panhandle is to provide comprehensive risk reduction measures for patients with coronary and other vascular diseases, particularly in the aspects of smoking cessation, lipid management, and post myocardial infarction care.

Special skills include: Right and Left Heart Catheterization; Two-dimensional Doppler Echocardiography; Transesophageal Echocardiography; Exercise Stress Testing; Temporary Pacemaker Implantation; Electrocardiogram Interpretation; Acute Post-Bypass Care; Bilingual-Spanish/English.
