Joaquin Martinez de Arraras, M.D., F.A.C.C., FSCAI
received his undergraduate degree from Universidad Complutense in Madrid,
Spain and his Medical Degree from the University of Navarra Medical School
in Pamplona, Spain. While attending the University of Navarra Medical
School, he completed a Research Fellowship in Children’s Exercise
Physiology. Dr. Martinez completed his Internship and Residency in Internal
Medicine at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Fellowships in
Clinical Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology were completed at Hospital
of Saint Raphael in New Haven, Connecticut.
Dr. Martinez is a Diplomate of the American Board of
Internal Medicine, a Diplomate of the American Board of Cardiovascular
Disease and of Interventional Cardiology, a Fellow of the American College
of Cardiology, and a Fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and
Intervention. Dr. Martinez is also board certified in interventional
cardiology.
Dr. Martinez co-founded Amarillo Heart Group in
1992. Dr. Martinez practices Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Martinez is
Director of Congestive Heart Failure Services at Amarillo Heart Group. His
practice also includes peripheral vascular intervention and stent
placements.
Dr. Martinez was the first to perform several
procedures in Amarillo. These include: Directional Coronary Atherectomy-simple
and complex lesions; Transluminal Extraction Atherectomy-Native Arteries and
Grafts; Percutaneous Transluminal Rotational Atherectomy; and Diagnostic
Intravascular Ultrasound.
Other skills include: Stent Placement; Percutaneous
Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty–simple and complex lesions (including the
use of Femoral-Femoral bypass support); Diagnostic Right and Left Cardiac
Catheterization; Exercise Stress Testing; Two-dimensional Doppler
